About Watercolors™ original gallery paintings is a site that has a little bit for everyone.
You’ll find watercolor tips and tutorials for beginners, step by step demonstrations for the more experienced painters, galleries for those looking to purchase original paintings, links to online lessons offered, and links to suppliers and other watercolor resources I have found to be useful.
I hope you enjoy surfing the site as much as I have enjoyed surfing others while I was putting it together.
Watercolor painting started out to be a mere diversion.
Having no formal training in art, watercolor painting started out to be a mere diversion. I was at a time in my life where I was looking for a direction, a place that I could escape to from the trials and demands of everyday living.
Painting gave me that, and so much more.
My formal education is as an accountant, so I find the freedom of expression gained through my painting to be very refreshing. It gives me endless opportunities for creativeness and inner satisfaction using form, line, color, and design to evoke emotions that hopefully the viewers can share through their own experiences.
At first controlling the pigment was a feat I thought I’d never accomplish but the perfectionist in me demanded that I’d not be happy until I’d somewhat mastered the transparency of watercolors that others so beautifully have.
I devoured every article and book I could get my hands on to learn about technique, color, and composition, and painting very quickly went from being a hobby to a passion. That was almost a year ago, and today every spare moment I have finds me in the studio with a brush in my hand.
